Using the Record and Play Tools
The Record and Play tools allow children to add their own
voices and sound effects to a book. They are available from
Read, Write, and My Book. Using these tools they can record
their ideas, read text from the book, or read text that they
have written. They can record, listen to, re-record, and
save their recordings until satisfied.
Make sure a microphone is active on the computer before
using the Record and Play tools.
Go to the Read, Write, or My Book area and click the
"Record" (microphone) button to open the recording dialog
box.
When ready to speak, click "Record."
Click "Stop" to pause the recording, then click "Record" again to
continue or just let the time indicator go to the end.
Click "OK" to close the recording dialog box.
Click the "Play" (boombox) button to listen to the recording. It
is possible to make and play back one recording per page in
a book this way.
