Summary/Obtaining Copies
This study represents an important step in investigating whether online use will lead to increased learning. In our world of rising demands for literacy, and particularly for literacy that extends beyond print literacy, we will need to engage both students and their teachers in becoming independent, critical thinkers. Students and teachers will need to become active learners who can find information, organize it, evaluate it, and then effectively express their knowledge and ideas. The results of this study suggest that online use can be an important tool for both.
