CAST National Consortium on Universal Design for Learning News

Greetings, Readers

CAST is pleased to invite you to review and offer feedback on a new CAST Web site resource “Case Stories”. All those who respond to this invitation will be eligible for a 10 seat user license for The New eReader 3.0 for Windows! http://www.cast.org/udl/index.cfm?i=211

The Case Stories are intended to respond to a critical dilemma within general education classrooms and pertain to access to the general education curriculum and meeting the needs of all learners, including those with disabilities. Once you have reviewed the setting, curriculum, and model lesson along with various teacher and policy views, be sure to visit the Share section of the Case Story.

The focus of the first Case Story is “Reading Challenges in Social Studies”. The teacher, Mrs. Jones, is faced with a dilemma of how to help all students achieve the social studies lesson goals given the short time period and the widely diverse skill levels of students.

I would also like to invite you to a special professional development event, featuring Dr. David H. Rose, Co-executive Director of CAST. Dr. Rose will be presenting a one-day workshop on “Universal Design for Learning and the Brain”, January 8, 2004. To register online: http://www.cast.org/udl/index.cfm?i=2417.
