Changing Highlight Settings

The mode in which text is read and highlighted can be adjusted in the Read Aloud, Read, and My Book areas of WiggleWorks.

To engage students with stories and support understanding of fluent, expressive reading, select "Line-by-Line" reading and highlighting.

To support word recognition by emphasizing the connection between individual spoken word and their written equivalents, select "Word-by-Word Normal Speed" (Mac) or "Word-by-Word Normal Rate" (Windows).

To help students pay attention as they read, select "step word-by-word" (Mac) or "Click Word-by-Word" (Windows). In this mode, the highlight and reading aloud move ahead only when stduents click the mouse button. Using this mode, students can read each word, then click ahead to have the computer read. Students also stay "with the pace" as they are setting it themselves.
