High Stakes Assessment and Other Policy Matters
The degree to which students have access to a district's curriculum takes on critical importance when schools use high stakes testing to make decisions about which students will be promoted or retained in grade and which will receive high school diplomas. Because universally designed instruction creates unique access to the curriculum and is returning promising educational results, it has caught the attention of decision-makers in state and local education agencies and in the U.S. Congress.
