Impact, Initiatives & Products
For 20 years, CAST has researched, demonstrated, and defined a new approach to curriculum: Universal Design for Learning (UDL). The impact of UDL is now evident throughout the United States and beyond in educational software, publications, improved classroom teaching, and more inclusive policy and practices at the state and national level.
Initiatives
CAST's research in Universal Design for Learning is reflected in:
- national leadership through participation in national and state level education initiatives related
to education and special education, Web accessibility, materials development, and research to practice;
- applied research in educational settings;
- development and distribution of products;
- curriculum planning and classroom-based projects in schools;
- professional development in school districts;
- development and distribution of products; and
- a professional organization for educators.

Products
CAST researches and develops educational software and other materials that are based on the principles of Universal Design for Learning. We work extensively with students and teachers in a variety of educational settings to ensure that UDL-based products are effective and user-friendly.
