Robert C. Seamans, Jr. earned a B.S. at Harvard University, an M.S. in Aeronautics at MIT, and an Sc.D. in Instrumentation at MIT.

Dr. Seamans has had a long and distinguished career in aeronautical and astronautical engineering, based in academia, business, and government. He has served as a Deputy Administrator at NASA, Secretary of the U.S. Air Force, President of the National Academy of Engineering, and most recently as Dean of MIT's School of Engineering. He is currently Professor Emeritus in the Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics at MIT.

Dr. Seamans has served on many boards and received numerous honors. He is a trustee of the National Geographic Society and overseer at both Harvard University and the Boston Museum of Science.

He has been a member of CAST's Board of Directors since 1994.
